What is here, and what is not

The standing rules
Nothing here is invented

Every quotation is drawn from a named public-domain translation. Dates follow traditional ecclesiastical usage and are marked where they are approximate. Sources are admitted to about AD 500, and where the whole of a person’s record is one line in one text, the archive says so and lists them among the 455 single attestations rather than writing a life around the gap.

2,392 mentions are held against 1,152 names, sorted earliest source first; 376 works are catalogued, 70 texts carry interlinear passages, and 4,807 recorded links say which figures the sources name together. The method in full →
