Who Eulogius of Tarragona was
The second deacon of Fructuosus, condemned and burned with him on 21 January 259. Asked by the governor whether he too worshipped Fructuosus, he answered with the era’s cleanest distinction between reverence and worship: “I do not worship Fructuosus, but I worship Him whom Fructuosus worships.” A deacon’s single preserved sentence, and a whole theology of the martyrs’ cult in it.
