Who Faustinus of the Generosa epigram was
One of two names surviving on a fragmentary Damasan epigram from the cemetery of Generosa on the via Portuensis. The stone is broken and the poem incomplete: the two names are legible and almost nothing else is. Distinct from Faustinus of Alexandria and from Faustinus who subscribed at Arles.
Named once, in a verse epigram Damasus of Rome set at the tomb between 366 and 384. The epigram is the ONLY early evidence — the later Passions derive from it, not the reverse.
