Who Severus of Sodoma was
One of the bishops of the province of Arabia who subscribed the creed at Nicaea in 325. The Arabian delegation is small — a handful of sees along the desert frontier — and its subscriptions are the earliest firm evidence for an organised episcopate in the region. Distinct from Sulpicius Severus and from Severus of Antioch.
Named once, in the Nicene subscription lists under the province of Arabia; no other ancient source names him.
