Who Crispus of Corinth was
The chief ruler of Corinth’s synagogue who “believed on the Lord with all his house” at the height of the synagogue’s resistance — a conversion so consequential that Luke pairs it with the vision in which the Lord tells Paul, “I have much people in this city.” Paul baptized him personally, one of the few he says he baptized at all. Later tradition makes him bishop of Aegina.
