Who Bademus was
A rich and noble citizen of Beth Lapat who founded a monastery outside the city and was arrested there in the thirty-sixth year of Shapur’s persecution with seven of his monks. He lay in chains for months and was killed on 10 April 376. His Passion belongs to the fifth-century Syriac Acts of the Persian Martyrs — a body of texts composed from the fourth century onward and only edited, not authored, by Bedjan in 1891. The archive enters him on the strength of the ancient text, not the modern edition.
