Who Jesus called Justus was
One of only three “of the circumcision” who stood by Paul in his Roman imprisonment — with Aristarchus and Mark — “which have been a comfort unto me.” He bears his Lord’s own name, Yeshua, with the Latin cognomen Justus, “the righteous,” the same double-naming pattern as Joseph Barsabbas Justus. Nothing else is recorded; the single verse preserves both the loneliness of the imprisoned apostle and the fidelity of the few.
