Who Mnason of Cyprus was
“One Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge” — archaios mathētēs, a disciple of the beginning, perhaps of Pentecost itself. Hosting Paul’s party on the last ascent to Jerusalem, he is one of Luke’s likeliest living sources for the early Jerusalem narratives of Acts: the historian slept under the eyewitness’s roof.
